What We Do
Despite the presence of a top-tier business school, an ambitious student body, and a variety of pre-professional student organizations, there are few structured opportunities for students to explore business opportunities, learn basic business skills, and connect with business professionals.
Stanford Women in Business addresses both the specific issues preventing more women from pursuing business careers and the general lack of general business resources. Stanford Women in Business strongly believes that establishing a long lasting community serving all women on the Stanford campus will naturally prepare them with skills for a successful career in any industry. Through mentorship, workshops, career exploration events, and conferences with a variety of alumni, recruiters, and high profile businesswomen, SWIB strives to become the launching pad for women with an interest in business.
While Stanford Women in Business membership is limited to women, SWIB is dedicated to becoming a general business resource to the entire Stanford Community. Throughout the year SWIB provides career workshops and business industry panels for the benefit of all Stanford students. The inaugural "I don't know" to CEO Stanford Business Conference, headed by and coordinated by Stanford Women in Business, is a prime example of this commitment to the entire Stanford Community.
Stanford Women in Business is a relatively young organization to the Stanford University campus, but has hit the ground running celebrating its first full year in 2006-2007. During the 2006-2007 academic year, Stanford Women in Business has hosted over 15 events, the first ever student organized business conference, and has been nominated for the Deans List for Outstanding Student Organization for its contribution to the Stanford Community.
Stanford Women in Business is taking the first steps towards empowering young women with the guidance, confidence, and community to succeed in business. As the group matures with age and leadership, the vision will remain the same, but the innovation, scope, and impact of Stanford Women in Business will only continue to grow.
